People try this in a slightly wrong order. They ask ChatGPT to remember their to-do list, it agrees, and a week later the list is gone. A chat is not storage. What you want is a connection to the task app you already use, so tasks land somewhere permanent.
How the connection works
You approve a connector between ChatGPT and your task app. After that, "add renew the passport to my list" creates a real task, and "what's overdue" reads your real list. The connector holds a key you created, not your password, and deleting the key ends it.
Which apps work today
Todoist documents a ChatGPT route directly, which makes it the easiest starting point. Notion is well supported too. Other task apps depend on community connectors, and support in ChatGPT specifically varies more than it does in Claude — a connector that works in one client does not automatically work in another.
The simpler route when setup stalls
If the connection is more work than it is worth, use automation instead: a Zapier or Make step, or an email-to-task address, gets you most of the capture benefit with none of the setup. You lose the ability to ask questions about your list, which is the part that is genuinely hard to replace.
One honest warning
An assistant will confidently rewrite your whole week if you ask it to. It has no idea how much you can actually do. Use it for capture and for questions, and keep the decisions about what fits in a day with yourself.
What LemTask can do today
LemTask has no ChatGPT connector yet, and we will not say otherwise on a page about setting one up. Webhooks, Zapier, Make and Apple Shortcuts all work now and cover most capture workflows. When a connector exists and has been tested, this page will carry the steps.
