Futurenda promised something genuinely compelling: an intelligent auto-scheduling system that would arrange your tasks into the optimal daily schedule based on deadlines, priorities, and available time. The vision was a task manager that not only tracked what you needed to do but told you exactly when to do it.
The concept was ahead of its time when it launched. Auto-scheduling has since been executed well by tools like Motion ($19/month) and Sorted ($14.99/year), but Futurenda was trying to solve this problem earlier. The idea of having an AI arrange your day remains appealing, especially for people who struggle with prioritization.
The reality has been disappointing. The auto-scheduling algorithm is basic, often producing schedules that don't reflect practical constraints. It doesn't account for energy levels, task types, or the reality of interruptions. Tasks get slotted into available time blocks without the nuance that would make the output truly useful.
More critically, the platform appears barely maintained. The website looks unchanged in years, the blog is silent, and the app store listings show infrequent updates. The user community is effectively nonexistent, and finding support or tutorials is nearly impossible.
The feature set beyond auto-scheduling is minimal. There's basic task creation with dates and priorities, but no projects, no tags, no subtasks, no collaboration, no habits, and no focus tools. The interface is functional but bare.
Futurenda is difficult to recommend in 2026. The auto-scheduling concept is valid, but better implementations exist. Motion offers AI-powered scheduling with a full PM feature set. Sorted provides fluid time blocking on Apple devices. LemTask offers gamification, habits, and focus tools for personal productivity. Futurenda's value is primarily historical — proof that the auto-scheduling idea had merit, even if this particular execution didn't deliver.

Futurenda may still be the better fit for some teams. LemTask is worth testing if you want tasks, habits, focus sessions and calendar planning together.
Side-by-side feature comparison, pricing, and more.
Futurenda appears to be barely maintained. We recommend looking at actively developed alternatives.
Auto-scheduling automatically arranges your tasks into time slots based on deadlines and priorities. Sorted and Motion do this better.
