Best for
Very small teams wanting the absolute simplest PM tool.
Hitask offers a stripped-down approach to team task management. It focuses on the absolute basics — tasks with assignments, a shared team calendar, file storage, and basic time tracking. In a market where most PM tools are adding AI, automations, and complex workflows, Hitask goes the opposite direction with radical simplicity.
The task interface is clean and uncluttered. You create tasks, assign them to team members, set due dates, and attach files. The shared calendar view shows everyone's tasks in one place, which is useful for small teams that need visibility without complexity. Built-in file storage means you can attach documents directly to tasks.
Time tracking is included, allowing team members to log hours against tasks. Reports are basic but functional — you can see who spent how long on which tasks. For teams that need to account for time without sophisticated billing features, this covers the basics.
The problem is that 'basics' in 2026 means something different than it did when Hitask launched. The interface hasn't kept pace with modern design standards — it looks and feels like a web app from an earlier era. Navigation is functional but unintuitive, and the mobile experience is rough around the edges.
The free tier supports up to 5 users, which is reasonable for evaluation. But even on paid plans, the feature set is thin. There are no kanban boards, no Gantt charts, no automations, no integrations worth mentioning, and certainly no personal productivity features.
Hitask might work for very small teams (2-3 people) with extremely simple needs who want the absolute minimum viable PM tool. For everyone else, there are better free options (Asana, Trello, GoodDay) that offer more functionality with better UX. For personal productivity, LemTask offers gamification, habits, and focus tools in a modern interface.
